I make bentos for myself and my hubby – almost every morning.
Almost.
Because it takes about an hour to put together and it’s gone in 60 seconds.
As per my post a while back, I’ve got this severe desire to have a home made bento for lunch, ever since I could remember.
So here’s a collection of my bentos that I’ve made thus far.
One of my first bento endeavors
Then my hubby got into posting it on his FB wall…..
Obviously some days I couldn’t wait….
Note the little flower salts in the rice. I did not make that. It came in a packet made for bentos. Coz we Japanese folks are crazy about cuteness that way.
Now with a carrot sticks and hummus snack.
Taking my bento for a walk in the park. Shortly after taking this, the bento was wolfed down in two seconds and I went back to the office. It was 50 degrees and too cold.
Now trying a new bento box my mom sent me. Also added fruit as a dessert. Obviously these portions are too small for me.
Lunch at the park take two. This time it was accompanied by other side dishes from Hill Country 😀
Couples bento.
What you do not know is that I still cram the hell out of our bento boxes with food I can think of that my hubby will and can eat.
They may look cute but they have weight to these.
On a good day it can be used as a weapon.
My biggest fear is dropping a freshly made bento box before having a chance to consume it.
Hello, I’m sorry for snooping in, but those bento look so pretty and tasty and healthy ^^

Thank you! Not easy feat because Japanese food here in NYC is expensive and it’s not as convenient as being in Japan.
